Is your family stuck in patterns that just aren't working anymore?

I understand that every family faces unique challenges. Whether you are dealing with communication breakdown, parenting struggles, conflicts or major life transitions, I provide compassionate guidance to help you navigate difficulties together.

I use evidence-based techniques and tailor-made goals to meet the needs of each family member. Through open dialogue, active listening and skill building, families are empowered to rebuild trust, foster understanding and strengthen their relationships.

You are in the right place if:

  • You find you are having a hard time getting through to your kids.

  • You are feeling stuck - the strategies that used to work just aren't cutting it anymore.

  • Parenting is feeling overwhelming and exhausting.

  • Big emotions or difficult behaviours are disrupting the harmony at home.

  • You are feeling emotionally disconnected from those closest to you.

  • A significant life event has occurred, like an illness, loss or separation, and you want professional help navigating your way through.

How Family Counselling Can Help

Family Counselling can create a safe space for each individual's emotions and needs to be expressed and heard. Through an empathetic, structured approach, Family Counselling can help you:

  • Deepen understanding. Resolve conflicts, improve communication and build stronger relationships.

  • Foster practical tools to manage difficult emotions. Learn about self-regulation and co-regulation; begin to better identify what you and your family members are caring about, and how to meet one another's needs.

  • Enhance Connection. By creating opportunities to seek to understand one another, we can gain new insights and appreciation for one another. Reconnect with your strengths and learn to find ways of interacting that you feel proud of.

Kate Rive Counselling is located in the stunning Rocky Mountains, which is considered Treaty 7 land and home of Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. This space and place is the traditional territory of the Îyârhe Nakoda, including the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations. It is with deep respect and gratitude that I acknowledge the caretakers of this land, both past and present.
